War Destroys. We Rebuild.

Every day, people suffer and lives are destroyed because of war. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Emergencies are described as “urgent situations in which there is clear evidence that an event, or series of events, has occurred which causes human suffering or imminently threatens lives or livelihoods, and which the government concerned has not the means to remedy; and it is a demonstrably abnormal event, or series of events, which produces dislocation in the life of a community on an exceptional scale.”

We, at Peace Direct, provide emergency assistance, often in conflict, post-conflict or disaster situations.

We assist thousands of people displaced, rendered homeless or deprived of basic resources by cataclysmic events such as wars. We have developed a unique body of expertise in addressing emergencies and we are ready to keep fighting this battle.

'No Work is Insignificant’

When war breaks out, jobs and livelihoods are destroyed.

But having a job or running a small business is one of the most effective ways to rebuild lives and support communities to live in peace, for the long term.

We work with local organisations in some of the most fractured communities to train people in skills so they can get jobs or build small businesses.

We are determined to support local people to rebuild devastated communities and increase the chances for long term peace through economic and social development.

Support for Communities

Healing happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the recontruction of what is lost. We aim to reach people as early as possible when conflict breaks out and stay to support them through their recovery - keeping them safe, helping them learn and cope with their experiences, and equipping them with skills for the future.
